The English word “collapsed” has a more limited meaning than its Spanish counterpart.

In both languages, “collapsed” refers to a building or something similar that has fallen down.

The abandoned factory collapsed overnight.
The Old Man of the Mountain, a rock feature that looked like the face of an old man, collapsed at some point during the night.

But “collapsed” does not refer to traffic conditions or other situations where there are more people than space!

El tráfico en el Puente Rontegi está colapsado. =

There is a traffic jam on Rontegi Bridge
Traffic is at a standstill on Rontegi Bridge.

Do not say the bridge is collapsed!
